“No real news since most of them were homeless. They found two dead of an overdose, and one died from undetermined causes. The rest are still missing as far as we know. No more sightings of Wilds or newborns either. Lots of remote places to hide bodies. They may never be found.” Luko folded his arms over his chest. “How long do I have to stay in lockup? I’m going fucking stir crazy here.”

“You stay until she says it’s safe,” Sam intervened.

Alpha male backing my play. There may be hope for him after all.

“Any word from Raffe?” She’d put Bundi in one hell of a position and still carried the guilt for asking the vampire to take on babysitting duties.

“Bundi checks in with Rory every couple of days. He acts as a middleman between them and us. Raffe is his normal asshole self. Ava is being somewhat more reasonable, trying to keep him in line as much as possible. He may be Lord but she is the oldest, and her word does hold sway. Don’t know how long it will last.” Sam shrugged. “How much longer you gonna be away?”

“Probably a few more weeks. My next stop should be interesting, some race known as the Djinn. Vivian says I need to meet with them, though I don’t have a clue what for.”

“It’s damned reckless, Ginny, with none of us there to protect you.”

“The Unseelie queen will be there, as will Nocturne. I’ll be fine.”

Sam’s brows wrinkled. “You set a lot of store by this Nocturne.”

The leather squeaked when she stood to leave. She drained the glass, set it on Sam’s desk, and got ready to shift. “Yes, I do. Gotta go.” She winked at Luko. “Be back when I can.”
